INFORMATION

Since 2020, Esther Schopman (City Carillonist of Enschede) and Hylke Banning (City Carillonist of Oldenzaal), both alumni of the University of Twente, have been working to re-establish the Campus Carillon as a vibrant part of campus life. In addition to presenting lunchtime recitals almost every Thursday, they regularly organize special events centred around the Campus Carillon. Through these activities, they aim to raise awareness of this unique instrument, which remains unfamiliar to many people - particularly international students and staff.

Every two weeks, we offer carillon lessons to interested students, alumni, and university staff. The primary goal is not to train professional carillonists, but to fill the campus with the sound of the bells. Above all, we want our students to enjoy making music on this remarkable and unusual instrument. For students at a technical university, engagement with arts and culture provides a valuable complement to their academic education.
